Life is Hard

 

If the previous year has taught us anything it is that life is hard.  No matter what there will always be challenges.  Good, bad, or ugly there will always be difficulties in life.  But the cool thing about life is that we get to choose the challenges in our lives!  For example:

Being broke is hard – being responsible with money is too

Being divorced is hard – building an awesome marriage is too

Being overweight is hard – eating well every day is too

Being sick is hard – being healthy is too

 

The point is that no matter what you do life will be hard!  Even if you decide to sit and do nothing, time will march on and challenges will STILL come!  So instead of leaving your challenges to fate, hoping, and praying that nothing bad happens, this year let’s take a different approach.  Let’s choose our challenges and lean into them.  Let’s get to work on the things that you care the most about. 

Step 1: What do you care about?  This might seem silly on the surface but very few people have actually sat down and looked at what they value in life.  Family, finances, faith, health, these are generally people’s the top values, but they may not be yours.  Take some time to figure out what you care the most about in your life!  If you’re having trouble, a quick internet search will give you a long list of options.

Step 2: Define what “great” looks like. It’s not enough to just say “I value my family above everything else.”  What does it look like to have a great family life?  Maybe its family dinner 5 nights a week, a game night or movie night once a week, a family hike.  If you value financial security what does that look like?  Maybe having enough savings to live for 6 months or be debt free!  If its health, what does great health look like?? Eating Advanced Plan every day, exercising 5 days a week, getting adjusted every week and doing homecare exercises daily?  These are just examples.  Take some time and think about what “great” would look like in your life.

Step 3: Now that you know your highest values and you know what you want to achieve in these areas, its time to set up a plan.  How am I going to work towards “great” this year?  This is where the rubber meets the road.  This is where most people bail out and quit because this is where it gets hard.  Even though you are working towards a better life in all the things you value, work is still work.  And on top of that you are ELECTING to do the work.  Its not being forced on you which makes it that much harder.  BUT the fact that you are working towards what you value, the effort will be that much more rewarding.

SO, once you have your highest values set and your “great” is defined, all that you need to do is set up a daily, weekly, monthly plan to work towards your “great”.  The how becomes simple once the why is established.

                At Northgate Family Chiropractic we help people just like you find and correct the cause of your problem so that you can remove your pain, restore your health, and reclaim your life!  We believe that all people want to be healthy and feel good!  The reason why is simple.  We all understand that you cannot be the best version of yourself if you are sick or in pain!  You can’t be who God called you to be and you cannot do the things you want to do in life if you lose your health.  But the fact of the matter is that the majority of Americans are dealing with health issues.  Whether its migraines, neck pain, low back pain, numbness and tingling, sciatica, or even diseases like heart disease, cancer, digestive issues, or diabetes, just about everyone is suffering from some health issue! But if everyone wants to be healthy why are so many of us sick and suffering?  It comes down to the way that you view and manage your health!

                Just in general, when it comes to health, your tendency is to wait.  You wait until you’re sick, you have some sort of symptom, or you’re in pain before you do anything at all and generally your first step is to reach into the medicine cabinet and grab something that will help cover up your problem.  You mask the symptom without addressing what caused it!  That is the equivalent of you driving down the road and out of no where your engine starts smoking, then the check engine light pops on.  You say to yourself “I don’t have time for this right now.”  So, you put a piece of masking tape over the light.  What’s going to happen to your car? You covered the warning sign as opposed to finding what caused it in the first place!  But that’s exactly what we do with our health in our country.  We cover up the warning signs instead of finding and fixing what caused them!  Here at NGFC we are all about finding and fixing the cause not covering the symptom!

                Luckily, there is only one cause to sickness and pain!  That might sound far fetched but every problem you’ve ever had boils down to one thing; your body isn’t functioning properly.  You see, your body is designed for health!  Being healthy and pain free is your body’s natural state.  When your body is functioning the way, God intended then you don’t have low back pain, neck pain, or headaches and you certainly don’t have inflammation, high blood pressure, or blood sugar issues!  But more importantly you can be you!  You can live your best life and do the things you want to do! It’s only when your body starts to malfunction that pain, and sickness arrives. 

                At NGFC we ask the hard questions: what does your body require to function properly?  Well, you need to be free of harmful chemicals, you need good nutrients, oxygen and blood flow, and as little stress as possible, but most importantly you need for your brain to be able to tell your body what to do since its your brain that controls every function and all healing in your body!  These are the 5 Essentials of Health.  Nutrition, Exercise, Minimized Toxins, Mindset, and Chiropractic Care. 

                Chiropractic Care might not seem essential at first glance.  How does cracking your neck have anything to do with health?  An adjustment has everything to do with health!  Your brain controls your body.  It uses the spinal cord and nerves to send signals down and out to every cell, muscle, tissue, and organ in your body!  Your spine is designed to surround and protect your spinal cord and nerves.  When your spine shifts out of its normal alignment it damages and interferes with your nerves and spinal cord.  This is called a subluxation.  When you have a subluxation, your brain can no longer tell your body how to function properly and if left uncorrected signs and symptoms arise like pain.  So, at NGFC we always look to the spine first as the cause of disfunction and disease.  As you begin to correct the subluxations in your spine, we can then look to the other 4 Essentials of Health to make sure your body is getting everything it needs to be healthy and you can live your best life!
